A Classic Review - It is exasperating to hear government officials speak and debate about “CLIMATE CHANGE, a term they seem to have confused with “GLOBAL ARMING”. Climate change is an astronomically predictable event that has been taking place for billions of years and will continue to do so until our sun swells up and absorbs our small planet into its dying red mass. Climate change is precipitated by a series of coincidental astronomical events that man has nothing to do with.  These events, grouped together, are commonly called the Milankovitch Cycles. They are: AXIAL TILT, AXIAL PRECESSION, ORBITAL ECCENTRICITY, ORBITAL INCLINATION

 1. AXIAL TILT - OBLIQUITY is a gradual change in the angle of the earth’s rotational

axis relative to the perpendicular of the plane of the earth’s orbit. The angle of tilt changes from 22.5 to 24.5 degrees and back again over a period of 41,100 years. Currently that angle is about 23.5 degrees.

Axial Tilt - obliquity - axis tilt from 22.l to 24.5 degrees It makes a complete cycle every 41,000 years

2. AXIAL PRECESSION - axis wobble - is a cyclic wobble to the direction that the earth tilts. It is called axial precession and takes about 26,000 years to complete one cycle.

Over long periods of time our axial direction rotates in a circle, constantly changing

what "North Star" we reference.

PERIODICITY – 26,000 years

3. ORBITAL ECCENTRICITY  - earth's orbital deviation from a circle –

 PERIODICITY - 413,000 years

4. ORBITAL  INCLINATION – The inclination of the plane of the earth’s orbit relative to

the sun.

PERIODICITY 100,000 years

At this point in the earth’s history we are in the Holocene era. It is the interglacial period of an ice age that began about 2.6 million year ago at the start of the Pleistocene epoch. Artifacts of our last glacial period - which ended 11,700 years ago - the Greenland, Arctic, and Antarctic ice sheets still exist.

Our laughably primitive tribe of hairy little apes can do nothing to stop our solar

system's orbital destiny. As a stress reliever, I suggest that we paint our bodies blue

and dance around a large fire.
